“Bharat Bandh” had full support in the North-Eastern states

GUWAHATI: Thousands of farmers in Delhi have been agitating for the past 13 days against the centre’s new agricultural laws. The farmers have announced ‘ Bharat Bandh ‘ for one day today i.e. “Bharat Bandh” has been called across the country from 11 am to 3 pm this morning. The impact has now been visible in different parts of the country. In Assam, farmers ‘ India Bandh shows mixed impact. Shops remained closed, Congress and left party workers performed on the streets. Many protesters also blocked the way, but many offices remained open. Dozens of protesters were taken into custody by police in different parts of the state. In Uttar Pradesh, 14 political parties including Congress, AIUDF have supported the bandh of farmers. India Bandh of farmers is not affected in the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Normal life in the state is completely unaffected by the bandh. Police said, the operation of private trains and public vehicles in the state continued as before. All business establishments, markets and shops were also open.

 Government and private offices were also open. The banks also worked normally. However, long distance trains remained a distance from the road. In the north-eastern state of Manipur, five organizations opposing the law have demanded all BJP party MLAs in the state to resign within five days. If legislators do not do so, they may face the rage of the farmers, according to a spokesman for the organization. The BANDH called by farmers ‘ organisations on Tuesday in protest against the centre’s agricultural laws did not show any impact in Tripura. Vehicles were plying on the roads as a daily and markets and shops remained open in the state. The presence of employees in government offices, banks and financial institutions was observed. Police said, no violence has been reported from any part of the state so far. In Meghalaya, normal life remained normal on Tuesday and the ‘ Bharat Bandh ‘ called by farmers ‘ organisations in protest against the centre’s agricultural laws had no special impact. Shops and markets remained open in the state and private and public vehicles continued to ply. Officials said, government offices, banks and post offices remained open and the presence of employees was seen. The Meghalaya Joint Counsil Trade Union and Association said that they support the BANDH on moral grounds but they have decided not to protest in the city due to KOVID-19. Hills Farmers ‘ Association President Command Shangplaiyang said that his organization has also supported the farmers on moral grounds.
