Bhutan Economic Affairs minister visits Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: A eight member delegates from Bhutan led by Minister of Economic Affairs H.E. Lyonpo Loknath Sharma and Consul General Royal Bhutanese Consulate General Guwahati Jigme Thinlye Namgyel today visited the Bodoland territorial Region (BTR) headquarter Kokrajhar and enjoyed Bwisagu celebration at the official residence of BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro

The Bhutanese delegates were accorded a warm welcome with traditional Aronai. The team later participated in the Bwisagu celebration and also enjoyed traditional Bodo dishes.

Talking to Reporters, Bhutan Economic Affairs H.E. Lyonpo Loknath Sharma stated that the people of Bhutan and Bodoland Region had always had a close relationship and his visit is to enhance the relationship. He said he would always want the people of both side of the border to continue the good relationship and also the trade and commerce activities.

Pramod Boro expressed his happiness to host the Bhutanese delegates. He said the people of both sides of the border have happily coexisted since centuries and together can do lots. He said the two sides have shared and discussed ways to enhance the economic activities.

Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, Kokrajhar East MLA Lorence Islary, BTR executive members were also present on the occasion.
