Bihar: Floods hit 10 lakh more people, situation remains grim

In Bihar, the flood situation continued to be grim in north Bihar as 10 lakh more people have been affected. About 40  lakh people in 12 districts are affected by the devastating floods. The worst-affected districts are Darbhanga,Gopalganj, Saran, Samastipur and Sitamarhi.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the prevailing floods situation in the state and instructed officials to provide relief materials to each family in affected areas. Mr.Kumar asked the officials to provide all necessary health facilities and antigen tests to all staying at the flood relief camps. The Chief Minister asked for increasing the supply of rapid antigen kits in flood affected areas.

Twenty six teams of NDRF and SDRF have been pressed into service. Three lakh people have been evacuated so far. About 30 thousand people are taking shelter in 26 relief camps. In all, 989 community kitchens have been set up for providing food to affected people.

Gandak , Bagmati and Kamlabalan rivers are flowing above the danger mark. The Met department has forecast heavy rainfall in catchment areas of Nepal and   across the state in the next 48 hours.
