GUWAHATI : Due to economic difficulties, an activist from North Lakhimpur district of BJP Assam ended his life. According to reports, Mithuranjan Das committed suicide due to financial constraints. Das has also left a 3-page suicide note in which he elaborates on the causes of suicide. In the suicide note, Das reportedly wrote that he had to take this step due to debt pressure. According to sources, Mithuranjan Das and one of his associates had supplied food to the covid centre set up at Laluk College in North Lakhimpur during the Corona period. He started this work by charging money on interest. In lieu of this, they were to get Rs.17 lakhs from the concerned Department.

Das’s mortal remains have been sent for postmortem. According to BJP sources, Das was very close to former chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
