GUWAHATI: Amid the turmoil in Maharashtra’s polity, the Uddhav government is clouded with a crisis. According to the latest information, out of the total 55 Shiv Sena MLAs, only 16 mlAs are in CM Thackeray’s camp. In such a situation, there is a mess in the party. Meanwhile, along with mlas, now MPs are also seen coming out in support of Eknath Shinde. On the other hand, rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde faction has claimed that they have the support of 49 MLAs. With the kind of situation that is happening in Maharashtra at the moment, Uddhav Thackeray’s chair seems to be certain to go.
Uddhav Thackeray’s chief minister’s chair is also under threat. But the epicentre of the political earthquake in Maharashtra is the Radisson Blue Hotel in Guwahati, 2,732.0 km from Mumbai. Eknath Shinde is staying with the rebel MLAs at the same hotel in Guwahati. It is reported that around 42 MLAs are present with Shinde. Of these, 34 MLAs belong to Shiv Sena while 8 are independents. In this resort politics, which started once again in Maharashtra, money is also being poured away like water. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is known for his skillful political acumen in the northeastern states by the BJP’s high command, including Prime Minister Modi, and has now emerged as a key figure amidst political turmoil in Maharashtra. The rebel Shiv Sena MLAs are currently staying in Guwahati as a safe haven for themselves and Chief Minister Sarma is once again making headlines as a proper manager in this time of BJP’s crisis.
These Shiv Sena MLAs were the first to go to Surat from Maharashtra and from there they made their way to Guwahati. It is believed that the sudden arrival of Shiv Sena MLAs in this way was a pre-planned plan to reach Guwahati, where the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) has been in power since 2016. Elaborate security arrangements were made on their arrival and were received at the airport by two trusted BJP leaders of Sarma, Sushant Borgohain and Pallab Lochan Das.
After this, they were taken to the hotel in a bus with four cabinet ministers of the Assam government, where they are staying in the presence of these cabinet ministers. According to some media reports, Chief Minister Sarma was seen here before the MLAs reached the Radisson Blu Hotel. After this, he was again seen present in the hotel premises in the afternoon. This shows that he is keeping a close eye on this whole development. On the other hand, trinamool congress today staged a massive protest outside the hotel where shiv sena rebels are staying in Guwahati. The protest was led by Trinamool Congress’ Assam chief Ripun Bora. A large number of policemen and security personnel tried to keep the protesters under control. The protesters raised slogans accusing the ruling BJP of Assam using all its resources to topple the Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra.
