Bombay HC asks agencies to conduct independent probe of Dabholkar, Pansare murders

Bombay High Court during thursday’s hearing, has asked CBI and the Maharashtra CID not to completely rely on the revelations made in the Gauri Lankesh case and conduct independent probe into the killings of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare.

The directions came after the court noted that the SIT was questioning the people arrested in Gauri Lankesh case to help trace the absconding accused in Pansare case.

A division bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikari and M S Karnik asked both the probe agencies to make a sincere effort towards tracing the absconding accused in Pansare and Dabholkar cases.

The bench also said that the probe machinery in Karnataka handling the Gauri Lankesh case was making much headway as compared to the authorities in Maharashtra, especially due to bureaucratic hassles and lack of coordination with each other.

The CBI, however, argued that its officers were doing their best to trace the absconding accused, adding that a chargesheet will be filed soon in the Dabholkar case.
