Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, in partnership with other Oil Marketing Companies, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the Uttar Pradesh Sports College Society, Lucknow, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of an International Cricket Stadium in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony was held in the distinguished presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri; Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji; and Hon’ble Minister of Sports, Shri Girish Yadav.
Representing BPCL at the event were Mr. D. Parthasarathy, Executive Director – HRS; Mr. Milind M. Labhane, GM (Admin Services, Facilities & CSR), Corporate Office; and Mr. Rajesh Kumar, State Head (LPG), Uttar Pradesh-1.
The project is being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Sports College Society, Lucknow, under a tripartite agreement between BPCL, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the Uttar Pradesh Sports College Society.
Spread across 108 acres, the proposed International Cricket Stadium aims to create world-class sports infrastructure in the region. Phase I of the project includes the construction of a 30,000-seat cricket stadium along with key supporting infrastructure such as the cricket ground, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Protection (MEPF) works, roads, parking facilities, drainage systems, utilities including water tank and STP, security and ticketing zones, landscaping, and perimeter walls.
The project is expected to be completed over a period of 36 months and is envisioned to significantly strengthen the sporting ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh while providing a modern platform for nurturing emerging talent.
