Kokrajhar : The Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) women wing today carried out a rally demanding conduct of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections at the earliest.
Around a hundred women members of the party participated in the rally which started from BPF party central office situated at JD road and walked through the street of Kokrajhar to the Deputy Commissioner office.
A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam State Election Commissioner through the Deputy Commissioner office, Kokrajhar on the demands.
The party demanded holding the BTC election within the month of October 2020 before the expiry of Governor’s Rule. It also opposes extension of Governor’s Rule in BTC beyond 28th October next.
The BPF have announced a series of dharnas, hunger strike, torch rallies and bike rallies beginning today demanding election by October 27. The Akhil Hindi Bhashi Vikash Parishad, BTC Central Committee has also demanded holding of BTC election at the earliest. The Parishad today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar.
