BTC job scam: 29 illegal appointment in Transport department BTC terminated

 The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Principal Secretary has ordered termination of 29 nos of illegal appointments in Transport department BTC which includes 8 nos of Assistant Enforcement Inspectors and 21 nos of Enforcement Checkers.

The BTC Principal Secretary Siddharth Singh through an  order  (No.BTC/Misc/Secy(BJM)ACS-02/2020/69 dated Kokrajhar, the 7th August 2020 stated that the BTC conducted an enquiry on allegation of nepotism in recruitment done in transport department of BTC wherein “it is found that those appointments were not proceed by existing govt rules and law relevant thereto. The entire process leading to appointments of the persons was totally arbitrary as there was no advertisement, publicity, public notice, etc where published for the purpose.

“Whereas it is apparent that the engagements have been made in an illegal and arbitrary manner by violating Article 14 and 16 of the Constitution of India, it read.

All the 29 candidates were stated to be directly associated with the ruling Bodoland Peoples Front leaders and are “wards of officials serving in BTC including the outgoing BTC principal secretary Robinson Muchahari.

The latter also said that in view of the above and in pursuance of the approval given by the competent authority the engagement of the 29 persons against 8 nos of assistant enforcement inspectors and 21 nos of enforcement checkers which made under Transport department of BTC, being illegal and void-ab-initio are hereby terminated forthwith.

It also said that the Joint Commissioner of Transport, BTC vide order Memo Nos JCT/BTC/36/2020/1192-A dated 05.03.2020 and JCT/BTC/36/2020/1190-A dated 05.03.2020 respectively issued engagement orders against 8 nos of Assistant Enforcement Inspectors and 21 nos of Enforcement Checkers on purely temporary basis and terminable at any time without assigning any reasons and notice thereof.

The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), a regional party in BTC on June 7 last had registered a FIR against the alleged job scam in the Transport department in the post of Assistant Enforcement Inspector without any official recommendation and approval by the competent Central Selection Board(CSB) BTC and without any circular, interviews or exams, following which any inquiry was conducted. The FIR has been lodged by UPPL Central working committee Member Rajkumar Prithviraj Narayan Dev Mech, Central IT Secretary of UPPL Kamal Azad, and 2 other members of UPPL Naitik Rabha and Bala Krishna Adhikari at Kokrajhar Police station.
