Buddha Purnima, marking the birth
anniversary of Lord Buddha, is being celebrated in different parts of the
country today.
In Bihar, Buddha Purnima is being celebrated with religious
fervour and gaiety. The main function has been organized at Mahabodhi temple in
Bodhgaya where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under pious Bodhi tree.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu
and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion.
In his message, the President said, the values of
non-violence, peace, compassion and service to humanity embodied in the
teachings of Lord Buddha have profoundly influenced human history and the
course of civilization.
In his message, the Vice President said, Lord Buddha was one
of the most illustrious spiritual leaders and his eternal message of
non-violence and compassion continues to inspire humanity across the globe.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people on the
occasion of Buddha Purnima. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Buddha known for truth,
peace and love will always continue to inspire people.
