Bwisagu fever grips Bodo belts

The rhythmic sound of kham, siphung, jhota, serja, jabsing grips the air in different nooks and corners of Bodo belts as people celebrate the Rongjali Bwisagu or Rongali Bihu.

Flavor of music and dance were visible everywhere as people, young and old, men-women alike in – colourful traditional attire – dokhna, jwmgra, aronai –  were seen merry making celebrating the spring festival singing and dancing to the tune of Bwisagu songs.

In many places, young boys and girls, elderly men and women were seen going door-to-door in villages, singing and dancing. Bwisagu functions were being organized in many places.

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU)   celebrated the festival by organizing Open Bwisagu at Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground here in Kokrajhar today where people from all walks of life were seen participating in the celebration, singing and dancing to the beat of music.

Assam minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, ABSU president Dipen Boro, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary and others participated in the celebration.

ABSU president Dipen Boro while impressing on the need of preserving the culture like Bwisagu and Bihu also extended his greetings and best wishes to the people and instils new enthusiasm among the people with a message of peace and prosperity among the people.

Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma also participated in the celebration and extended his greetings and best wishes to the people.
