Dimapur: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Saturday expressed doubt that byelection to the two Assembly constituencies in the state due in October/November may not be held as the “political solution is coming up within September”. The two constituencies where byelection is due are Southern Angami-I and Kiphire-Pungro.
“We cannot predict whether byelection will really take place for the state government may be dismissed to implement political solution under a neutral government,” NPCC president K. Therie said in a statement.
He said, “All evidences displayed in recent times between state government and the Governor are indications that all is not well.”
The state Congress alleged that the law and order had collapsed long time back after the regional political party adopted a policy to support and facilitate the peace process.
“They have freed all factions to impose their governance over its citizens. There is no more law and order. The writ of the state is the last thing to respect,” Therie said.
He added that multitudes were assassinated, killed, murdered and “our women” raped.
The NPCC said every village council and village development board, entrepreneurs and government departments are subject to extortion.
It said 24 percent of salary of the government employees is paid to self-styled governments while the state government has only directed its departments to compromise.
“Can anyone deny the truth?” the NPCC asked.
