Bhopal: Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Mohit Bundas informed that in the assembly by-elections 2020, cash including liquor, vehicles and other materials worth total Rs. 22 crore 97 lakh 8 thousand have been seized so far in 28 assembly constituencies of 19 districts of the state. The Excise department has seized 8 lakh 84 thousand 201 liters of liquor worth Rs. 5.88 crore and the police department has confiscated one lakh 8 thousand 828 liters of liquor worth Rs 3.7 crore . Similarly, One thousand 601 k.g. drugs worth 1.42 crore have been seized by the Police and Narcotics Department. Rs. 5.138 crore cash has been seized by the Police and Income Tax Department. Laptops, sarees, vehicles and other materials costing Rs. 5.74 crore have also been seized. In addition, 143 k.g. of gold and silver worth Rs. 1.1 crore have been seized.
So far, one lakh 52 thousand 444 firearms have been deposited in police stations in 19 districts of the state. Besides, 3 thousand 645 weapons have been confiscated and one thousand 190 licenses have been cancelled. As many as 309 police check posts are functional under the by-elections. Eight thousand 853 non-bailable warrants have been served by the police.
