Central team to study COVID-19 situation in TN

The five-member Central Team delegated to study the pandemic situation in Tamil Nadu met the state Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy in Chennai today. The state Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar, Chief Secretary K.Shanmugham and senior officials also joined the meeting and briefed the team about the strategies being adopted to contain the pandemic in the state. With this, the team members wrap up their two day visit to Chennai.

The team is led by Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Aarti Ahuja. Its members visited the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, a designated Covid-19 facility in Chennai yesterday. They also saw for themselves the ‘fever camps’ being organized in every ward in Chennai Corporation through which suspected Covid-19 cases are identified and tested.

Three of the team members return to Delhi this afternoon while the other two are from the central medical research institution JIPMER in Pondicherry
