Centre for Sight Launches Planet LASIK at Its C.G. Road Centre in Ahmedabad, Strengthening Advanced Vision Correction in Gujarat
Ahmedabad : Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals today announced the launch of Planet LASIK on a separate, dedicated floor at its existing C.G. Road centre in Ahmedabad. Planet LASIK, Centre for Sight’s dedicated refractive surgery brand, focuses on helping eligible patients reduce their dependence on spectacles and contact lenses through advanced diagnostics, personalised assessment and a range of vision-correction procedures.
The event was launched in the presence of Dr. Rupal Shah, Medical Director & Head of Clinical Services, Vadodara, Dr. Paresh M. Vaidya, Medical Director & Head of Clinical Services, Surat, Dr. Nikhil Prajapati, Head of Clinical Services, Ahmedabad, and Dr. Vinod Gurnani, Medical Director, Ahmedabad.
The newly launched Planet LASIK floor at the C.G. Road centre strengthens Centre for Sight’s Gujarat presence, which includes its centre in Vadodara, two centres in Surat, and centres at C.G. Road–Navrangpura, Naroda and Gandhinagar. The expansion brings specialist consultations, treatment planning and follow-up care closer to patients across the region. Centre for Sight’s refractive portfolio in Gujarat includes SILK, SMILE, Contoura Vision, ICL, Femto LASIK and LASIK, providing a broad choice of laser-based and implantable lens solutions within one specialist network.
Prof. (Dr.) Mahipal S. Sachdev, Chairman and Medical Director, Centre for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals, said “At Centre for Sight, our mission is to bring advanced eye care closer to people and contribute to the development of technologies that will shape its future. Our clinicians’ involvement in the development and clinical evaluation of SMILE and SILK reflects this commitment. Through Planet LASIK, we are bringing together clinical expertise, advanced technology and personalised assessment to help people pursue greater freedom from spectacles and enjoy the activities that matter to them.”
Dr. Shankar Narang, CEO, Centre for Sight, said “Planet LASIK at our C.G. Road centre strengthens specialised eye care in Gujarat by bringing consultation, diagnostics and treatment planning together. Our focus remains on combining experienced clinical teams, advanced technology and consistent standards to provide personalised vision-correction solutions closer to home.”
Planet LASIK brings together specialist consultation, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning and follow-up. Having multiple treatment options allows doctors to recommend a procedure according to the patient’s eyes and visual requirements. Suitability depends on factors such as age, stability of spectacle power, corneal thickness and shape, and overall eye health.
Dr. Rupal Shah, Medical Director & Head of Clinical Services, Vadodara, said “The best vision-correction procedure depends on each patient’s eyes. A detailed assessment helps determine suitable options, expected outcomes and limitations. The dedicated Planet LASIK floor at our C.G. Road centre in Ahmedabad brings personalised refractive care closer to patients.”
Dr. Paresh M. Vaidya, Medical Director & Head of Clinical Services, Surat, said “Our expanding Gujarat network aims to improve access to experienced specialists and advanced treatments closer to home. From refractive surgery to cataract care, we prioritise clinical suitability, clear counselling and continuity throughout treatment and follow-up.”
Dr. Nikhil Prajapati, Head of Clinical Services, Ahmedabad, said “Cataract treatment planning considers patients’ daily visual needs, including reading, computer use and driving. Lens selection depends on these requirements and overall eye health. Individual assessment and counselling help patients make informed decisions.”
Dr. Vinod Gurnani, Medical Director, Ahmedabad, said “Conditions such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy may progress before noticeable vision changes occur. We aim to make specialist evaluation, timely treatment and regular follow-up more accessible through our Gujarat network.”
Beyond refractive services, Centre for Sight’s Gujarat network offers care for cataract, retinal conditions, glaucoma, paediatric eye disorders, squint and corneal diseases.
Cataract services include micro-incision cataract surgery (MICS) and femtosecond laser-assisted surgery at equipped centres. Lens options include monofocal, toric, multifocal, trifocal and extended-depth-of-focus (EDOF) lenses. Selection depends on eye health, lifestyle and visual needs, with counselling helping patients understand the benefits and limitations of each option.
