ChemSpark 2026 at Heritage Institute of Technology Sparks Two Days of Innovation, Research and Industry-Academia Dialogue
Kolkata: The Department of Chemical Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK) successfully organised ChemSpark 2026, a two-day celebration of innovation, research and emerging possibilities in Chemical Engineering, on 9th and 10th September 2026 at the Heritage campus.
Bringing together students, academicians, researchers and industry experts, ChemSpark 2026 provided a vibrant platform for young minds to showcase their ideas, engage with experts and explore the evolving landscape of Chemical Engineering.
The event was graced by Shri Kalobaran Maiti, who attended as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Ashoke De, Dean, Academic Affairs, IIT Kanpur, who was the Guest of Honour. Their presence and interaction with the students added considerable academic value to the two-day programme and inspired the participants to pursue innovation and research with greater purpose.
A major highlight of ChemSpark 2026 was the opportunity provided to students to present their innovative project prototypes and research papers before experts. The student presentations were evaluated by distinguished experts, giving participants valuable exposure to professional assessment, constructive feedback and real-world perspectives.
The event also featured an engaging panel discussion, bringing together experts from both academia and industry. The discussion provided a platform for meaningful exchange on the changing landscape of Chemical Engineering, emerging technologies, research opportunities, industry expectations and the need for stronger academia–industry collaboration.
The diversity of activities transformed ChemSpark 2026 into more than just a technical event. It became a platform where ideas moved from concepts to prototypes, research met critical evaluation, and students interacted directly with experts from the academic and industrial ecosystem.
The two-day programme reflected the Department of Chemical Engineering’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, research, interdisciplinary learning and industry engagement among students.
Speaking on the occasion,Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute of Technology highlighted the importance of creating opportunities where students can move beyond conventional classroom learning and engage with experts, emerging technologies and real-world challenges. Heritage Group of Institutions, CEO, Mr. Pradip Agarwal spoke about the way ChemSpark ignites the innovative minds of the students.
