n Chhattisgarh, police has arrested Amit Jogi, son of former chief minister Ajit Jogi and president of a regional party, Janata Congress Chhattisgarh today morning. Jogi was arrested in connection with producing alleged fake birth certificate while filing nomination papers during 2013 assembly elections.
According to the Superintendent of police of Bilaspur district Prashant Agrawal, Jogi arrest was on the basis of a complaint filed by BJP leader Sameera Paikra, who had unsuccessfully contested against him from Marwani (ST) constituency in the 2013 elections. Subsequently, police had lodged an FIR against him under section 420 of IPC.
Former chief minister Ajit Jogi reacted to his son’s arrest as an act of political vendetta and it was also aimed at preventing the Janata Congress leaders from campaigning for the assembly-elections in Dantewada (ST) assembly constituency where polling is scheduled for September 23.
