Child Welfare committee, ABSU concern over rape and murder cases

Kokrajhar: Various organisations including the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Child Welfare Committee, Kokrajhar expressed their serious concern over the rise in anti-social activities and atrocities towards women, including rape and murder and use of drugs at different places in Bodoland Region and urged the government to take stern action against the guilty involved.. 

Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, Kokrajhar Malati Rani Narzary expresses her serious concern over the rise in rape and murder of girl child in various part of the state, including Kokrajhar.

Narzary said a 9 years old girl was raped by a 55 years old man in a remote village under Bishmuri police post in Kokrajhar district three times since last April. She also stated that the victim’s 14 years old elder sister was found hanging under mysterious circumstances two days after she caught the culprit committing the crime. The girl was produced before the Child Welfare committee Kokrajhar today. A medical test was also carried out today. The accused Rughunath Narzary is absconding.

Narzary said there has been a steep rise in the incident of rape and sexual abuse of minor girls and demanded strong action and punishment against the perpetrators.

President of Kokrajhar district committee ABSU Kripesh Daimary also strongly condemns the rape of the 9 years old girl and demanded that the accused must be arrested and punished with the stringent punishments.

The ABSU have registered a case against the accused demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits involved.
