Chouhan orders SIT probe in Ujjain deaths

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan convened a special meeting of the senior officials at his residence yesterday and  sought information on the suspicious deaths in Ujjain. Describing the incident unfortunate, Chouhan  said stringent action  would be taken against those selling hazardous substances.   The network of such people should be destroyed. The incident should be investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). He further instructed that if such substances are being sold at several other places in the state, the police force should find out and take strict action against the culprits. Chouhan said that Additional Chief Secretary, Home should coordinate the matter and submit a report on the basis of preliminary inquiry.

The Chief Minister said that people selling such poisonous intoxicants are enemies of the society. They should get severe punishment. Action should be taken to ensure capital punishment to them. The people who lost their lives were also very poor. Probably they must have been taking this type of intoxicants for several days. The network of people selling such intoxicants should be destroyed. He instructed to keep a watch on such cases, not only in Ujjain but also in the entire state. Wherever there is a probability of selling such adulterated and poisonous substances, strict action should be taken, he added.
