Mangaldai : The matter Ishan Uday merit scholarship especially targeted to the North East students which has been in the news recently allegedly for long delay in its release since the academic session 2018-19 , is yet again in the news for the alleged apathy of the authority in release of the scholarship to one hundred and twenty eligible students of Mangaldai College for the financial year 2019-20. This has created strong resentment among the students community of the premier higher educational institution in the north belt of the Brahmaputra valley as its students’ union body has expressed a sharp reaction to the matter .
Talking to this correspondent Bhaskar Jyoti Bora , the union body’s general secretary while demanding early release of the scholarship to all the eligible students of the institution has alleged that at a time when scholarship amount for the said financial year has been released to almost all the institutions of the state on September 2 last , the matter has been pending for Mangaldai college for nearly one and half month reasons best known to the UGC authority . It has been pointed out that the aggrieved students have physically moved the Guwahati based UGC Helpline Centre , the Directorate of Higher Education and online communication through the college authority followed by online re-submission of applications on the basis of an online response from the UGC on September 24 last but without any solution till filing of this report .
Meanwhile the UGC authority recently is stated to have started the process of release of the same scholarship for nearly ten thousand students were pending since the academic year 2017-18 following reports appeared in PNI News and other publications.
