Kolkata: Today, November 24, is observed as Constitution Day and it was celebrated at Heritage Law College, Kolkata. The programme was addressed by Hon’ble Justice Pratap Kumar Ray, former Chief Justice (Acting), Calcutta High Court as the Chief Guest for the programme.
Justice Ray spoke about in details what is the importance of Constitution Day and why do we observe every year this Day to the young and aspirng future lawyers.
On this day, in 1949. the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly. After gaining independence from the British Rule, the Constituent Assembly took the task of drafting the Constitution of this newly-formed nation.
The programme also. witnessed the address of Prof. Santanu Mitra, Teacher in Charge, Heritage Law College, Prof. S. S. Chatterji, Director, Heritage Law College, Mr. PK. Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group, Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Senior Director- Higher Education, Heritage Group and other faculty and staff members of the College.
