Mangaldai :Counting of votes for altogether 854 seats of different level posts of the Panchayats of Darrang district has been going on in the temporary counting centres set up at Mangaldai College for the second day on Thursday and it is likely to be continued till late in the evening The district administration till 5-30 pm has not declared 
complete result of not a single Zila Parsihad Constituencies (ZPC) out of the fourteen . According to an official source BJP is leading six ZPCs followed by Congress in five , AIUDF in two and independent candidate in one . On the other hand unconfirmed sources claimed that BJP has already bagged Sipajhar-Devananda , Deomornoi-Pathorighat under Sipajhar LAC , Rangamati and Chapai ZPCs under Mangaldai LAC and Tengabari ZPC under Kalaigaon LAC . In the Dipila-Duni constituency there has been a neck to neck contest between the BJP nad Congress candidate till the final round of counting. On the other hand Congress has bagged Dumunichowki-Kuruwa , Lalpool , Syampur and Mowamari-Puthimari ZPCs while Shyamtila constituency has been bagged by an independent candidate and a dissident Congress leader . Congress was also leading in Dhula while AIUDF was leading in Besimari and Bihudiya ZPCs .
BJP has performed well also in the posts of lower level Panchayats claiming maximum of 12 seats of AP (Member) and nine seats of GP (President) followed by Congress in eight and nine seats respectively results of which have been officially announced so far . AIUDF and AGP have also opened their accounts . In an embarrassing development the GP (President) for BJP in the Aulachowka GP who was recently arrested on a serious charges of illegal lifting of rice has also emerged victorious .
