Hyderabad : In Telangana, amidst all precautionary measures, vaccination drive against COVID 19 has begun across the state. The vaccination drive began at 140 vaccine centres and 4 thousand 2 hundred Sanitation and Health workers are being vaccinated today. In Hyderabad, Safai worker S Krishnamma has received the first vaccine after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nation-wide vaccination drive virtually.
Union Minister of state for Home G Kishanreddy, State Health Minister E Rajendra, State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and several senior health department officials attended the launch programme at Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Hyderabad.
Later speaking to the media, Kishanreddy thanked all front line workers who tirelessly fought against COVID -19 ever since its outbreak. He said during the first phase, front line warriors like Health workers and Sanitation workers will be vaccinated. He said as a mark of gratitude, the government chose them for vaccination first.
State Health Minister E Rajendra said antibodies will develop for those who vaccinated only after a second dose and till then everyone should follow precautions like maintaining physical distance, wearing a mask and maintaining sanitation. He further said vaccination is taking place as per the ICMR guidelines. 30 sanitation and health workers are being vaccinated at each vaccine centre today across the state. The vaccination process is smoothly taking place in the rest of the state.
In Tamilnadu, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy inaugurated the Covid Vaccination at the Government Rajaji Hospital Madurai today. Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Chief Minister Palanisamy appreciated and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking tireless efforts in putting an end to the spread of the Corona Virus and making history through the introduction of the Vaccine.
Describing it as the first ever biggest exercise in the world, the Chief Minister told that there was no need to be afraid since it was all tested several times and was safe. The Chief Minister encouraged everyone to use face masks, practice handwashing and maintain physical distancing to spread the virus.
Deputy Chief Minister O.Paneerselvam and other ministers and a host of officials were present at the venue to witness the event.
In Mizoram, Covid vaccination has begun today morning with high spirit among the healthcare workers, along with the largest vaccine drive launched today country wide by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the main launching program at Aizawl Civil Hospital, state Health Minister Dr. R Lalthangliana encouraged all the health care staff participating in the vaccination drive and also applauded them for their fight against the coronavirus.
State Immunization Officer DR Lalzawmii informed that four centres have been exclusively set up in the state for the vaccination drive. In each of the centres, 100 numbers of health workers will be administered the vaccine in the first phase.
Of them, the first recipient of the vaccine Covishield was shot to a female healthcare staff Mrs Lalmuanpuii (44) at the centre in Aizawl Civil Hospital. Mrs Lalmuanpuii told the media that she is having no pain after the vaccine was shot and after half an hour she is now at peace. She felt happy with the first shot of the vaccine given to her in the state. She also appealed to everyone to take the vaccine to put an end to the Coronavirus.
In the state, 14,421 healthcare workers registered for the first phase of vaccination in the state.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has said that today is the biggest day in the history of India when the world’s biggest Covid 19 vaccination drive was launched by the Prime Minister. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru today after taking part in the launch of the vaccination drive, the Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for supporting and encouraging the indigenous development of vaccines which, he added, is drawing global attention. Saying that Nagarathna, a healthcare worker and Dr.Sudarshan Ballal were inoculated first, the Chief Minister asked people not to heed to rumours on social media and take the vaccine without fear. He informed that 143 percent of the target beneficiaries of the vaccine have registered in the state which is one of the biggest among other state figures. The Chief Minister released a postal first day cover on the vaccination drive brought out by the postal department on this occasion. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, Health minister Dr K Sudhakar among others were present at the launch function in Bengaluru.
COVID-19 vaccination drive is underway in Delhi. Talking exclusively to AIR News, Nodal Officer of Covid-19 vaccination programme of Delhi State Cancer Institute Dr. Pragya Shukla said that all the standard operating protocols have been adhered to for smooth roll out of the Covid-19 vaccination drive.
Today, 100 front line workers will be administered Covid-19 vaccine Covishield in the Delhi State Cancer Institute.
COVID vaccination drive has also started at 167 places in Rajasthan. Our correspondent reports that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the state level program from his residence.
Along with the rest of the country, Meghalaya joined the largest vaccination drive against COVID 19 today where the Chief Minister termed it as a ‘historic day’.
The launch of COVID 19 vaccination kicked off with the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) which is one of the vaccination sites.
A total of 100 health workers will be vaccinated at NEIGRIHMS and 732 will be vaccinated in the remaining districts of Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that rolling out the vaccine for COVID 19 is a positive step towards the fight against this virus. He cautioned the citizens to remember that the fight against this virus will still continue and it’s not that this vaccine will immediately take it away and everything will be normal.
The Chief Minister further informed that the first phase of vaccination for 16,000 health workers may take three to four weeks. Clarifying as to why two districts were left out in the first phase of vaccination, the Chief Minister said by tomorrow, in these two districts the vaccination will be rolled out. It is only because of connectivity issues that the State authorities could not include the two districts.
As of today, vaccination drive was conducted in ten different locations all across the State.
In West Bengal, the immunization drive is going on against Covid-19 pandemic since this morning along with other parts of the nation. A total number of twenty thousand and seven hundred frontline warriors are being vaccinated today.
The Covid vaccination drive is taking place with full swing across the 13 Districts in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has attended the inauguration of COVID vaccination programme at Government General Hospital (GGH), Vijayawada, AP today.
The First Covid vaccine has been given to a sanitation worker, B Pusha Kumari at Government General Hospital Centre in Vijayawada.
In Uttar Pradesh the vaccination drive is going on smoothly in all 75 districts. The vaccination started on time and there is no report of any untoward situation from any place.
In Uttarakhand, Covid-19 vaccination is underway. Chief Minister Trivender Singh Rawat was present on this occasion in Doon Hospital, Dehradun. In Champawat district first vaccine was administered to Paryavaran Mitra Bipin Kumar and Paryavaran Mitra Deepak Kumar in Tanakpur. Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj was present in the border district of Pithoragarh hospital during the vaccination. Full proof arrangements have been made at all the vaccination centers across the state.
In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has launched COVID-19 vaccination drive from the Auditorium of Government Medical College, Jammu in the presence of top brass of the UT administration. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports at least 4000 health workers across the UT will receive vaccination today at 40 designated immunisation sites.
The Covid-19 vaccination drive has started today at G B Pant hospital in Andaman and Nicobar islands along with the rest of the nation. A 59 year old health worker, Daulat Ram resident of Ferarganj Tehsil in South Andaman becomes the first recipient of the Covid-19 Vaccine. After taking the vaccine, he said that he is confident about it. It will help to fight against Covid 19 and there is no need to be panic. People should come forward to get vaccinated.
Prior to this, the commissioner cum secretary Health Dr. D Candavelu along with other senior officials attended the launch of world largest vaccination drive by PM Narendra Modi from Delhi via video conferencing. He remarked it is an important moment in the fight against Covid-19. All the arrangements have been made. The drive started on a good note and will emerge as a very successful one. Covishield is a very safe vaccine. There is no need to believe in any kind of rumors.
Initially, the vaccination drive is started from today at Port Blair but it will be expanded to other far flung areas as well. The delivery of Covid vaccine to other islands will begin next week. Today there is a plan to vaccinate a total of 240 health workers at two centres in Port Blair.
In Maharashtra, the main vaccination drive was launched in Covid Care centre at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray, BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and Mayor of Mumbai Kishori Pednekar. Dr. Madhura Patil became the first beneficiary to receive the Covid-19 preventive vaccine in this centre. While former health minister of the state Dr. Deepak Sawant was the first beneficiary in Cooper Hospital. The vaccination drive began at various places in the state including Jalna, where state health minister Rajesh Tope was present on the occasion.
