Cyclonic storm ‘Yass’ to cross North Odisha & West Bengal coasts within next two hours: IMD

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department, IMD has said that the Very Severe Cyclonic storm Yaas would cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts to the south of Balasore within next three hours.

The wind speed would be 130-140 kilometers to 155 kilometers per hour during the cyclonic storm. IMD has said that the landfall process has commenced from 0900 hrs.

IMD has said that Cyclone Yass lay centered at 0830 hours about 40 kilometers south-southeast of Balasore, 45 kilometers east-northeast of Dhamra and 60 kilometers southwest of Digha.

In its warning, IMD has said that several places of Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand will witness extremely heavy rainfall during the Cyclonic storm.

Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya will also witness rainfall.

IMD has advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea during the cyclonic storm.
