The Modern Data Company, creator of DataOS®, a data unification platform that works across existing infrastructure to deliver trusted, governed data faster for AI and mission-critical operations, and Second Front (2F), a public-benefit software company powering software for the free world, today announced that DataOS has achieved FedRAMP® Class D (High) Certification through 2F Game Warden®. The milestone makes DataOS available to U.S. federal agencies inside an environment already certified to protect the government’s most sensitive unclassified data.
DataOS is certified at Class D (High) as deployed on 2F Game Warden. By building on Game Warden, a fully accredited DevSecOps and secure hosting environment, DataOS inherits a certified security baseline and continuous monitoring, dramatically reducing the time, cost, and complexity typically required to bring a cloud service into federal production. For agencies, that means a secure, AI-ready data foundation they can adopt with confidence and stand up in a fraction of the traditional timeline. DataOS has been listed in the FedRAMP Marketplace under Second Front’s Game Warden listing.
FedRAMP certification is the U.S. government’s standard for cloud security and a strict requirement for cloud services serving federal agencies. Certification at Class D (High) requires compliance with more than 400 NIST-based security controls, independently validated by an accredited third-party assessor, giving agencies a pre-approved certification package they can trust without duplicative reviews. For federal customers, this means a shorter path from evaluation to deployment of DataOS for workloads involving sensitive data, including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Achieving this milestone reflects The Modern Data Company’s meaningful, long-term commitment to supporting the federal mission.
“FedRAMP High is one of the most demanding security standards in the world, and achieving it is a defining moment for Modern. It validates that DataOS meets the bar set by organizations with the highest stakes for their data, and that same rigor is what our commercial customers in regulated industries expect. Combined with our Second Front and Carahsoft partnerships and growing public sector pipeline, this certification opens a major new market for us and accelerates our path to becoming the standard data foundation for enterprise and government AI.” said Saurabh Gupta, CEO, The Modern Data Company
What this means for federal missions:
- Unifies mission data without replacing existing systems. DataOS connects siloed data across legacy, cloud, and mission environments, giving agencies a consistent view while preserving their existing technology investments.
- Delivers trusted, mission-ready data faster. Reusable data products make governed, context-rich data easier for analysts, operators, and applications to discover and use, reducing time spent finding, reconciling, and preparing data.
- Strengthens governance and accountability. Embedded access controls, data lineage, observability, and policy enforcement help agencies manage and share data responsibly across programs and mission partners.
- Creates a reliable foundation for analytics and AI. DataOS provides AI models and decision-support applications with governed, high-quality, semantically consistent data, helping agencies move from experimentation to operational mission value.
- Enables secure, certified data collaboration. Agencies can make data accessible across teams and organizational boundaries while maintaining control over who can access it and how it is used.
- Reduces integration and engineering overhead. By layering across the existing data ecosystem, DataOS minimizes infrastructure complexity and allows agency personnel to focus more time and resources on mission outcomes.
“Federal agencies are under enormous pressure to activate their data for the mission, but too often, security certification becomes the bottleneck that stalls modernization. Achieving FedRAMP Class D (High) Certification for DataOS through 2F Game Warden removes that barrier. Agencies get a proven, AI-ready data foundation they can trust with their most sensitive information, on a timeline that matches the urgency of their missions.” said Rick Rosenburg, Head of Public Sector, The Modern Data Company
The certification extends The Modern Data Company’s rapid expansion into the public sector. In early 2026, the company named Carahsoft Technology Corp. its Master Government Aggregator®, broadening agency access to DataOS through vehicles including NASA SEWP V, ITES-SW2, NASPO ValuePoint, TIPS, and OMNIA Partners, and appointed a dedicated Head of Public Sector to lead its federal, state, local, and education growth. FedRAMP Class D (High) Certification positions DataOS to support agencies at the highest levels of sensitivity as they modernize data infrastructure and accelerate AI.
“Agencies can’t scale AI on data they don’t trust. DataOS governs that data where it already lives, and FedRAMP Class D Certification means agencies can put it to work on their most sensitive unclassified information. Our job is helping companies like Modern grow in government, because that’s how better data reaches the people making mission decisions.” said Nick Woodruff, General Manager, North America, Second Front
Together, The Modern Data Company and Second Front are lowering the barrier between commercially proven innovation and the agencies that need it, giving the public sector a secure, certified path to activate data and AI for the mission. The companies expect to extend DataOS availability across additional federal, state, and local programs in the months ahead.
