Mangaldai  :  Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah has expressed his keen interest to promote legal child adoption in the district and also plug in the holes for possible trafficking and illegal adoption in the name of some age old acts including HAMA. He was assuring this to the office bearers of the govt registered Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) run by local NGO Crystal Vision where the Deputy Commissioner Borah made his maiden visit on Monday . He also spoke on his future plan to develop a single integrated site at Mangaldai for all such institutions under the parent social welfare department which are formed for different noble causes of the society. ” I have a plan to develop a campus at Mangaldai where different institutions of social causes under the social welfare department may function. This will also minimise the need of manpower.”, he said.

Deputy Commissioner Borah expressed his happiness in the manner the child care home for orphan, abandoned and surrendered children of less than six years of age is maintained and congratulated NGO members for their sincere efforts which had helped in bringing a significant improvement in the legal adoption scenario over the last couple of years since its launching in 2018.

Earlier Deputy Commissioner Borah  greeted a Delhi based couple – an army Lt Colonel and former Air Hostess each with a traditional handloom ‘gamosa’ , for choosing a female baby of around four months of age from the SAA of his district . Before handing over the baby to the childless couple, the Deputy Commissioner  termed it a rare ‘Diwali gift’ for them. Moreover an extremely delightful  Deputy Commissioner blessed the adoptive baby with his own pen with a hope that she would become well educated to serve her country in future. It may well be mentioned here that since the functioning of the SAA  the legal adoption has got a momentum where alogether seven babies have been in the process of legal adoption from the district during the short period.
