New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a GMR Group led consortium, today announced the launch of India’s first exclusive General Aviation Terminal facility for private jets at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
The facility has been inaugurated by Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation, in presence of Mr. GBS Raju, Business Chairman, GMR Airports (India) and Mr. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO-DIAL.
With this exclusive General Aviation Terminal facility, Delhi Airport marks another milestone of setting up high-end infrastructure for the passengers thus strengthened further the role of General Aviation in the country. The General Aviation Terminal has been built to support the movement and processing of passengers flying through chartered flights from IGI Airport.
The terminal has been set up in compliance with safety and precautionary measures implemented in view of COVID-19 pandemic. This new facility offers exclusive city side car parking and convenient access towards the city. The terminal is ready to cater to 150 private jet movements on daily basis, including Code C type aircrafts.
With modern architecture, this new terminal houses spacious passenger lounges, retail and F&B sections, 24 x 7 personal concierge services, common processing area with Customs and Immigrations and immediate access to private jet aircraft stands from the Terminal. The Terminal can handle over 50 passengers every hour.
With the GA Terminal and the newly developed General Aviation Aircraft Parking stands being co-located, passengers will find it more convenient to travel to and from the aircraft for boarding or de-boarding in no time. The newly developed Apron is spread over 8 lakh sq ft area with about 57 dedicated bays for parking of General Aviation Aircrafts.
Facilities for crew members and staff, such as restroom and briefing area, will also be available in this new Terminal. Besides, it will have an access control system, Wi-Fi enabled services, IT system integrated with overall IGIA platform, perimeter security control system, etc. to provide a rich and personalized experience to the passengers.
Appreciating DIAL’s contribution in facilitating passenger movement flying on private planes from the airport, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation, said: “India’s civil aviation sector is on a steady growth trajectory. The sector is all set to emerge stronger in a post-COVID world as more routes are opening up and number of passengers are growing. We expect a bulk of pre-COVID-19 domestic air passengers’ traffic to be back by Diwali this year, and General Aviation will have a significant contribution to it. The new General Aviation terminal at Delhi Airport is the need of the hour which would significantly support this growth.”

At IGI Airport, the FBO facility is being developed, operated and managed by DIAL’s appointed concessionaire M/s. Bird ExecuJet Airport Services Pvt. Ltd. FBO facilities are available at large and busy airports around the world. Apart from providing a designated terminal to those who use private jets and charter flights, such facilities also help expand the spectrum of General Aviation services.
