The team of 20 girl students from Dima Hasao District, presently on a National Integration Tour organised by Assam Rifles, interacted with the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Vajubhai Wala on 06 Dec 18. They shared their experiences on the trip as well as details of their hometown with the distinguished dignitary. The event was charged with the excitement and enthusiasm and the girls thanked the Governor for sparing time from his valuable schedule to provide an audience to them.
Dima Hasao, one of the remote districts of Assam located about 300 kilometers from Guwahati with thick forests & hilly terrain, its locals seldom get an opportunity to explore other parts of the country.
As part of its endeavor to contribute to social upliftment of the district & to instill in its youth a feeling of patriotism and belonging towards the nation, the National Integration Tour to Bengaluru has been organized by Haflong Battalion of Headquarters 22 Sector under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East). The tour, flagged off on 01 Dec at Haflong, Assam, will conclude on 11 Dec 18.
Later in the day, the team visited the Regimental Training Centre of India’s Elite Parachute Regiment as well as Madras Engineers Group and Centre in Bengaluru where they were given demonstrations on various combat activities. Besides this, the team also visited Mysore Palace, Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Zoo and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary at Mysore on 5 Dec 2018.
