DMK convenes its newly-elected MPs meet

The DMK has convened the meeting of its newly elected Lok Sabha members at the party headquarters in Chennai this evening.

It will be chaired by the party president MK Stalin and attended by its senior leaders.

Earlier, the party’s newly elected MPs and the 13 MLAs met Mr Stalin and placed their Election Certificates before the mausoleum of the party’s founder Annadurai and its patriarchal leader M.Karunanidhi at Marina in Chennai.

It was termed as a mark of respect to their departed leaders. The leaders of the party’s coalition partners and their MPs called on Mr Stalin in Chennai yesterday.

The DMK won 23 Lok Sabha seats in the elections including four members of smaller parties who contested under its banner and symbol.

The party-led coalition has got totally 37 of the 38 seats that went for polls. 

Meanwhile, the AIADMK Coordinator and state Deputy Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam and the party’s senior leaders, Rajya Sabha members and the party’s newly elected lone MP Ravindranath Kumar have left for Delhi to attend the NDA meetings.
