Dimapu: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union on Tuesday appealed to the banks to maintain and provide quality ATM services in Dimapur.

The union, in a release, said it made a survey of the ATM booths in and around Dimapur following complaints from several quarters. During the survey, majority of the booths were found to be either out of service or out of cash while in the ATMs where there is availability of cash, a queue of more than 20 to 30 persons is seen at a time, it said.

It said random queues outside the functional ATM booths without maintaining social distancing protocol is a total breach of SOP laid down by the government. It pointed out that most of the booths of the banks concerned in the town do not meet the requirements of SOP.

Expressing dismay at the poor services being provided to the consumers, the union said the students are at the receiving end since the academic admissions have started.

Noting that ATM service charges are being levied on the customers, it said it is the bounded duty of the banks to provide quality service to their customers.

The union hoped that the banks to take this appeal with utmost importance.
