I don’t just see you as 16-17-year-olds with badges on your chest and flags in your hands.  I see you as the future leaders, innovators and change-makers of the society.

I too dreamt of a bright future when I was a child.  But I was not all that a great student till 10th grade.  It wasn’t the pursuit of the dream that put me on the path to being a civil servant.  Ir was a fear of failure. She said that my fear of not doing well in my 10th-grade board exams drove me to study hard and perform well.

Reminding students what Dr APJ Abdul Kalam once said, ‘Dream, dream, dream’.  It is the ambition and fire in us that keeps us striving for greatness, Shikha Goel said.

Don’t wait for things to happen.  Success will go to those who work for it.  Go out of your comfort zone. Take risks. Don’t mind failing. Nothing is achieved without failing. When you fail, make sure you bounce back. There will be a lot of ups and downs.  Take them into yours stride and continue your efforts.  Michael Jordan the famous basketball legend encapsulated this when he said: “I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career I have failed over and over and over again and that is why I succeeded. Remember this as you navigate through life.  Embrace failure learn from it and let it strengthen you.
