Two consecutive earthquakes of magnitude 4.8 and 4.5 on the Richter Scale occurred at 10:31 AM and 11:07AM today at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
They were centred at 250 km and 319 km East of capital Port Blair at 10 km under deep sea. Due to their light intensity and long distance from the sea shore, the earthquakes were not felt by the locals. No news of damage caused by them as of now. Earlier to this, a light earthquake of intensity 4.4 on Richter Scale also occurred on 8th July
