Election Commission once again rejected the claim that EVMs can be tampered asserting that it stands by empirical facts about the foolproof nature of its EVMs.
The Commission’s statement came in the wake of an event in London to demonstrate tampering of EVMs.The Commission said, it has been wary of becoming a party to this motivated slugfest and stands by empirical facts about the foolproof nature of EVMs.The Poll body added that these EVMs are manufactured in Bharat Electronics Ltd and Electronics Corporation of India under very strict supervisory and security conditions. There are rigorous Standard Operating Procedures observed under the supervision of a Committee of technical experts. It also said, It is being separately examined as to what legal action can be taken related to the event for tampering of EVMs.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas attacked Congress over the reported presence of its leader Kapil Sibal in the event in London. Mr Naqvi told media in New Delhi that Kapil Sibal did not go there accidentally but he was sent by Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He alleged that Mr Sibal has been sent to malign the image of Indian democracy.
He said the opposition party is what he called making a hacking horror show of EVMs as it is seeing its possible defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
