Gallerie Nvya’s exhibition Through Four Eyes closed its exhibition at Visual Arts Gallery, Habitat Centre with the visit of faculty members and students from Jamia Millia Islamia University for a curatorial talk by art scholar and author Uma Nair.

Her  talk began with the introduction of the importance of composition in all mediums and the power of human observation across all artistic practices .The show by Sanjay Bhattacharyya and Sanya Ahuja , reaffirms the relationship between a senior artist and a younger emerging artist as one of sharing. Artist  Sanya Ahuja’s portraits range from surreal selfies to the chasing of light and darkness and texture and tone and human emotions. She said that she hunted for self portraits of herself when she was tired of shooting others. Nair brought out the compassionate nature of senior artist cum photographer Sanjay Bhattacharyya’s desire to showcase his work with young Ahuja and mentioned it was an epitome of the guru shishya parampara. The students and faculty members admired Ahuja’s  handling of the subject as well as emphasis on the value of  the integrity of human emotions during following any art practice.

On the opposite wall of the magnificent Visual Arts Gallery ,were Sanjay Bhattacharyya’s still life studies as well as human portraits both framed as collage and singular prints. The most salient feature of the show was the brilliant framing of works in all sizes by framing master Deepak Ahuja. A stellar composition of a  vertical  wall with a slim line of  exposed brick ,with  plant leaves on top was stated to be an example of Bhattacharyya’s  aesthetic  eminence which  found reiteration as the impulse and core of  the exhibition. Dr Surangini Sharma, a young Asst Professor said: ” We came to listen to the talk and see this exhibition  because we learn from the crisp commentary and understand how to look at photography. We look forward to talks that lead to  a deeper understanding, so we can be better teachers.”

Young debutante Sanya Ahuja presented a handsome copy of the catalogue to Dr. Sharma for the Jamia Millia Islamia University Library. Dr Chitaranjan Moharana, sculptor and Asst Professor , JMI  was seen admiring Sanjay Bhattacharyya’s portraits of squirrels as well as a fragmented image of a denim clad leg and a shoe.
