Ethanol blending saved foreign exchange worth over Rs 28,400 crore

New Delhi: The government said that ethanol blending in petrol from November last year to October this year has resulted in a foreign exchange savings of more than 28,400 crore rupees.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi clarified that the government has not launched any programme for ethanol blending in diesel. He said, Indian Oil Corporation, however conducted a pilot evaluation in 2022-23 to assess the performance and emission of five per cent blend of ethanol in diesel
