Mumbai: EuMo Spatial, a conceptual-practise of Mumbai-based integrated brand experience design firm EuMo, announces today its design for the FHR Wilderness Lodge Chandigarh. The firm led the masterplanning, architecture, landscape integration, interiors and furniture design for the nature-led golf hospitality retreat, creating an immersive guest experience informed by ecological sensitivity, spatial clarity and a seamless connection with the surrounding environment. EuMo Spatial creates architecture and environments that respond to their context, engage sense and leave a lasting impression.

Situated on the edge of the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, EuMo Spatial designed the space as a low-density hospitality retreat where cottages, shared amenities and expansive golf greens co-exist in visual harmony. Every planning decision is guided by the landscape, allowing guests to experience a sense of openness, privacy and calm.

The development of FHR Wilderness Lodge comprises six standalone cottages with two guest rooms each, along with a Presidential Cottage and a separate two-bedroom cottage with its own kitchen, gazebo and private swimming pool, bringing the overall development to eight cottages. A shared lounge, dining, pantry and bar spaces, along with an infinity pool overlooking a water stream and golf course, complement the accommodation and create a cohesive hospitality experience. Each cottage is accessed through a semi-open entrance porch that provides a gradual transition from the surrounding landscape to the interior while extending the living experience outdoors.

The masterplan organises these spaces around a central social heart while preserving uninterrupted views across the site. Service functions are integrated beneath the dining pavilion, ensuring that infrastructure remains discreet and the landscape continues to define the guest experience.

The architectural language draws from timeless colonial-era proportions interpreted through contemporary restraint. Natural materials, muted palettes and custom-designed furniture create a calm and timeless aesthetic. The interior artwork and material cues subtly reference the ecology of the surrounding nature.

Lighting, spatial sequencing and outdoor amenities have been designed to encourage slower movement and deeper engagement with the surroundings, allowing the sounds of nature, changing light and expansive greens to become integral parts of the guest experience.

Harkaran Singh Grewal (Gary), Co-Founder & Director, EuMo says, “Design in physical environments is often as much about what we choose to leave untouched as what we introduce. At FHR Wilderness Lodge, the design approach was rooted in allowing the landscape to remain the dominant experience. The architecture is deliberately restrained, framing views, drawing natural light deep into the spaces and creating a continuous dialogue between the built environment and its natural setting.

Luxury finds its most enduring expression through proportion, materiality, light and a sense of quietness. The intention was to create architecture that feels firmly rooted in its setting and becomes more meaningful with time.”

“Every site has an inherent character, and good design begins by understanding and responding to it rather than imposing a predetermined architectural language. At FHR Wilderness Lodge, the natural contours of the terrain, the existing golf landscape and the ecological character of the site became fundamental to the planning strategy.

These considerations informed the way we positioned the buildings, shaped the movement through the property and established relationships between interior and exterior spaces. The result is an architecture that is understated yet distinctive where landscape, built form and the experience of moving through the spaces are conceived as one continuous design.”
