Fierce clashes between suspected NSCN (IM) and Assam Rifles in Manipur

GUWAHATI : Indian security personnel of 29 Assam Rifles have clashed on Wednesday with suspected NSCN (IM) cadre in Pungansamai village of Khongpam area of Tamenglong district of Manipur. A fierce war broke out at around 5.30 pm last evening near Chingmei Kabui village (Pungsangmei), about 12 km south of Khaopam police station in Kangpokpi district, a police source said today. The report said that the conflict took place after a team of 29 Assam Rifles allegedly attacked by a group of armed terrorists using sophisticated weapons that were suspected to be NSCN-IM. The villagers with fear are shown rushing and crying. Assam Rifles source said assam rifles jawans have kept all Aleks under control to protect the civilian from casualties.

It said that more than 10 armed terrorists were fully armed with sophisticated weapons, which were present at the site. More AR soldiers were strong till the report was filed and the AR soldiers surrounded the village, while another soldier was hunting for armed terrorists. It may be mentioned that two NSCN-IM cadres along with a joint contingent of Manipur Police Commando and 29 Assam Rifles have reportedly been injured in the Limton area of Bishnupur district last evening. Around 4 p.m. on November 19, shelling has taken place in Old Kaicher Road from Lamton and 7 km upper Nyrin. Two injured cadres have been identified as Sao Chiru Village Po and PS Nambol and Janthingam Longmei age 41. An AK assault rifle with magazines, a pistol with magazines, 3-mobile phones, extortion receipts, some cash, Aadhaar cards, voter ID and an ATM card have also been recovered from the hands of militants. Two injured NSCN IMM cadre and recovered luggage have been handed over to Bishnupur police. Two injured NSCN-IM cadre is undergoing treatment at Bishnupur District Hospital.
