First meeting of G20 Development Working Group under India’s Presidency to begin today in Mumbai

 New Delhi: The meeting of G20 Development Working Group (DWG) will begin today in Mumbai under the India’s Presidency. India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said India’s vision for the Development Working Group’s meeting will be to share India’s Human-Centric Sustainable Development Goal’s Story and Citizen centric governance. He said, during this meeting India will focus on utilising power of digital technology and data as key enabler.

Strengthening work on the climate agenda by leveraging its interlinkages with the development agenda through lifestyle for Enviornment will also be a India’s another focus, he added. Mr. Kant said, during this meeting of DWG, India will continue to enhance the role of G-20 development working group as the custodian of the development agenda in G-20. He reiterated that India will enhance the voice of the global south and galvanise consensus for a green development part.

The first G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies (FCBD) meeting will also begin today in Bengaluru. This meeting, which will mark the start of discussions on the Finance Track agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency, will be hosted jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India. The discussions during the 3-day meeting will focus on the agenda for the Finance Track under the Indian G20 Presidency.  This includes reorienting international financial institutions to meet the shared global challenges of the 21st century, financing cities of tomorrow, managing global debt vulnerabilities, advancing financial inclusion and productivity gains, financing for climate action and SDGs.
