Mangaldai : Synchronizing the state level virtual inaugural function by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in presence of Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli and State Agriculture Minister , Atul Bora at Guwahati, Mangaldai Legislator Gurujyoti Das on February 19 afternoon inaugurated the mega cold storage with a capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes at village Ojagaon which has been built with a cost rupees twenty four crore eighty eight lakh. Speaking on the occasion Legislator Das termed the project as one of his major promises as stated in his election agenda. ” This was one of my major promises in my election agenda and today I am delighted to make it completed within my tenure and able to open for farmers.” , Legislator Das said . He underscored the importance of this much needed cold storage for the hard working farmers of the locality which would prove like a milestone in doubling the farmers income in days to come thus fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Modi. He urged upon the farmers to come forward and avail its opportunity against a nominal fees.
Explaining the objectives of this project Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, CEO, Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board , the government agency behind its successful implementation highlighted how the agriculture department of the present state government taking serious note on both the production and market sector of agricultural products leading to implementation different projects including cold storage , so that fresh agriculture and veterinary products could be scientifically preserved against a very nominal cost giving the farmer an opportunity to wait for a better sale price in near future . Chief Executive Officer Bhagawati also praised the efforts of the people behind timely completion of the much needed project. Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, District Agriculture Officer Uddhab Ch Deka also spoke on the occasion.
