Gauhati University NSS Cell & PGSU celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and PLOG RUN

Guwahati : Gauhati University NSS Cell and Post Graduate Students Union, GU celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the university campus on 2 nd October followed by launching of ministry’s “CLEAN INDIA” programme from 1st- 31st October 2021 with a motto “Lets come together and be part of history in making” Join Hands Together for Clean India. Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti while Inaugurating the programme Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare & Programme Coordinator, NSS, GU said that every citizen has the responsibility to make their respective places clean and hygiene.

As per direction of Ministry of Youth affairs, Govt. of India Dr Kakati urged all the NSS volunteers and Programme Officers under GU NSS Cell to take necessary steps through collection & disposal of waste – through collection drives and door to door campaign, drives for historical monuments and heritage sites, community centres, Youth Clubs, School Buildings etc. Speaking on the occasion Parshaw Patgiri, General Secretary, PGSU addressed to all the youths present in the meeting that students community has a major role to play to make our mother India clean by making our institutions, house campus and community clean. NSS volunteers and GU students’ community took part in the PLOG RUN and collected large amount of waste materials and plastic waste. Around 150 participants participated in the program comprising of NSS Programme Officers, NSS volunteers from different colleges, PGSU members & students’ community of GU campus.
