Get E-Shram card by registering without any cost and avail benefits of government schemes”- Union Minister Teli

GUWAHATI : E-Shram registration has been initiated to make a national database of unorganized workers in the country to help them in availing benefits of welfare schemes of the government and let our workers come forward for it by registering their names at no cost.”— said Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt of India, while addressing an awareness meeting of unorganized workers held at Saraighat College in Changsari, Kamrup today He also added that in addition to getting a card by registering names on the portal launched by the government, the labourers will also get insurance facility of Rs. 2 lakh. To register the name through this portal, Aadhaar card, Bank account and phone number are mandatory as well as inclusion of blood groups would be desirable.
Further he said that through this initiative, started on August 26 last with a target of registering the names of 38 crore labourers in the country, 2 crore 20 lakhs people have already been registered. Assam ranks fifth in this regard. Awareness meetings have been organized in this way to place Assam in the first position in the country and the administration, organisations, media and conscious people need to help in this regard, he said. He informed that Mahatma Gandhi NREGA workers, Asha workers, agricultural workers, drivers, domestic workers, Anganbadi workers, building construction workers etc. will be eligible for this facility. Stating that this facility can be availed online without going to the registration camp, he said that for this, one can call Tollfree Helpline Number 14434 and understand the online application procedure.
The Minister also called upon Deputy Commissioner Kailash Karthik N to fix site for a Skill Development Centre and store house for stock of Numaligarh Refinery oil for supply chain network. He also said that the HQ of Oil India Corporation will be brought to Guwahati within a month. He also mentioned the measures being initiated for organic fuel manufacturing in Assam. Mridul Mahanta, Secretary, Department of Labour and Employment delivered the welcome address at the awareness meeting. Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Karthik said in the context of his speech that 92 percent of the population in the district have already registered for Aadhaar cards. He also promised that the district administration will extend full support to registration process of labourers who have impeccable contributions in nation building process to help them in getting government’s benefits. MLA Diganta Kalita and Principal of Saraighat College Professor Ramnarayan Goswami also addressed the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Teli also handed over one-time assistance to the families whose worker lost life in COVID and the workers who lost their works during this epidemic. He also distributed sanction letters of pension to a number of people. On the other hand, in line with the awareness meeting, information of 350 people was collected at the registration camp held today to register in E-Shram. Today’s meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Prasanta Pratim Kathkotia, Circle Officer of North Guwahati Rashmi Pratap, Additional Superintendent of Police Asif Ahmed, Chairman, Governing Body of Saraighat College Dr Gyanendra Nath, representatives of various Labour Organizations, other citizens and workers.
