0 7

Nagpur : Moving beyond the technical aspects of photography, students at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Nagpur, explored how observation, emotion and perspective can transform a photograph into a compelling visual story during a special World Photography Day session, “Photography — The Best Way of Storytelling.”

The session was led by Anurag Bhattacharya, a Nagpur-based commercial photographer and visual storyteller with over 12 years of experience across advertising, food, hospitality, product, architecture and wildlife photography. He is also a photography mentor and has been actively involved in promoting photography and visual storytelling in Nagpur.

Encouraging students to “look before they click,” Bhattacharya shared practical insights from his work across advertising, food, hospitality, architecture, wildlife and product photography. Students actively participated in the session, asking questions about photography techniques, professional experiences and creative career opportunities.

Nidhi Gupta, Principal, GIIS Nagpur, said, “At GIIS Nagpur, we believe that meaningful learning happens when students get opportunities to explore, experiment and learn from real-world experiences. Our NIKON Lab provides students with a platform to develop their photography skills, while sessions with professionals like Anurag help them understand the creativity and purpose behind the craft. Such experiences encourage students to observe the world differently, express their ideas creatively and discover possibilities beyond the classroom.”

The session complemented the hands-on photography learning offered through GIIS Nagpur’s NIKON Lab, giving students an opportunity to connect their practical learning with insights from an industry professional. The initiative also reflects GIIS Nagpur’s focus on experiential and skill-based learning under the GIIS 9 GEMS framework, encouraging creativity and self-expression alongside academics.

The session reminded students that photography is not just about capturing a moment, but about seeing it differently — and telling its story through a single frame.
