Govt assures 100% supply of LPG, PNG and CNG across country

The government has assured 100 per cent supply of domestic LPG, PNG for households, and CNG for transport across the country. Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma said, domestic LPG supply remains stable, with no dry-outs reported at any distributorship.

She said the government is restoring commercial LPG and PNG supplies up to 70 per cent, with priority being given to hospitals and educational institutions. She added that the supply of five-kilogram free-trade LPG cylinders for migrant labour has been doubled. Over 175,000 tonnes of commercial LPG have been sold in April so far, with more than 9 thousand 578 tonnes recorded yesterday. 

The Ministry of Textiles is closely monitoring the West Asia situation. Trade Advisor in the Ministry of Textiles, Bipin Menon said that issues such as shipping disruptions and logistics are being addressed, with exporters advised to use alternate routes and ports like Jeddah. He added that fuel and gas supplies remain stable at about 80 per cent of average consumption.

Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mukesh Mangal said that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe and no incident involving any Indian-flagged vessel has been reported in the last 24 hours. Mr Mangal said that the Ministry has facilitated the safe repatriation of Indian seafarers.
