Seoul: Hanjin Group is providing emergency relief supplies and transport support to areas affected by severe flooding in Nepal.
Korean Air dispatched the first relief shipment on flight KE695 from Seoul Incheon to Kathmandu on September 8. The airline provided 1,000 boxes of Hanjin Jeju Pure Water and 1,000 blankets, which will be transported across two flights on September 8 and September 12.
Severe infrastructure damage has caused a critical shortage of drinking water in the region. The Nepalese government will distribute the relief supplies to displaced residents, local hospitals, and rescue sites.
On September 5, Hanjin Group affiliates Korean Air and Hanjin Corporation partnered to transport 10.5 tons of thermal blankets provided by the South Korean government. Korean Air temporarily suspended commercial cargo bookings on its Kathmandu-bound flight to prioritize humanitarian aid, while Hanjin Corporation managed the freight forwarding process.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to those in Nepal whose lives have been upended by this disaster,” said a Hanjin Group spokesperson. “We hope these supplies provide practical relief during this difficult time.”
