HARITA URJANEYAM 2026 – National Sustainergy Hackathon receives a overwhelming response at Sir MVIT

Bengaluru: Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT), Bangalore successfully organized a 24-hour National Hackathon titled “HARITA URJANEYAM 2026 – National Sustainergy Hackathon” under the auspices of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Sri Krishnadevaraya Education Trust (Sri KET).

Mr. K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) graced the occasion as a Chief Guest and highlighted the key milestones in India’s renewable energy journey and Karnataka’s significant contribution to this progress. He stated that the young innovators play a vital role in shaping India’s green energy future.

At the inaugural ceremony, the coordinator of the program, Dr. Mahesh K., explained the objectives of the hackathon. Dr. Suresh H.L., Head of EEE Department and Head of Academics, emphasized the need for sustainability-based technologies, Principal Dr. M.N. Thippeswamy encouraged the students to transform their ideas into practical solutions.

Over 300 students from different parts of the country participated in the day-long hackathon, designing and showcasing innovative prototype solutions to challenges in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability and green technology. The total prize money of ₹1,00,000 encouraged technical competitiveness and innovative thinking among the students.
