She said, the Mega Food Park will provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 people and benefit around 25,000 farmers.

She said, the park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs. 250 crore in 30 food processing units and would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs. 500 crore annually.

She said, this Mega Food Park is equipped with a dry warehouse of 3000 metric tonnes capacity and cold storage of 1000 metric tonnes.

She said, Zoram Mega Food Park will not only play a significant role in linking agricultural production to the market but will also help in keeping the food spoils to a minimum and prevent the post-harvest losses.

Ms Badal informed that a total of 88 projects supported by Food Processing Ministry have been sanctioned in the North Eastern Region and 41 have been implemented.

She said, these 88 projects would create processing and preservation capacity for 8.66 lakh metric tonnes to handle agro produce worth Rs. 2,166 crores on completion.
She said, under the visionary guidance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ministry of Food Processing Industries is focusing on boosting the food processing industry.
