Heavy rain has once again created flood-like conditions in several parts of Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in many districts over the next 48 hours. In Chitrakoot, the Mandakini River has reached close to the danger mark, and around 100 people have been moved to safer places. In Mandla, the water level of the Narmada River has risen and the river is in spate.
Continuous rain has affected normal life in several districts, including Chhatarpur, Satna, Mandla and Maihar. Five gates of the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur have been opened to release water, while water is also being released from the Kutni Dam in Chhatarpur. The Weather Department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in several districts, including Shivpuri, Guna, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh and Narmadapuram. Heavy rain is likely to continue in many parts of the state over the next two days.
