Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata Achieves Double Victory at Smart India Hackathon 2024
Kolkata: The Grand Finale of the prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2024, organized by AICTE from 11th to 15th December, showcased innovative solutions to real-world challenges across industry and society. Among the standout performers were two student teams from Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. Team Paradox Innovator emerged as a joint winner for the problem statement SIH1582, assigned by the Department of Smart Cities Mission under the Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs in the Hardware Edition held in Jalandhar, with their system to check the healthiness of the earthing system and alert staff in case of any malfunction. Team Connexus clinched joint winner status for the problem statement SIH 1609, assigned by the Education Department of the Government of Gujarat in the Software Edition held in Pune, for their implementation of the Alumni Association platform for the University/Institute. These projects, guided by the mentors Prof.Samiul Alam, Prof. Satarupa Biswas, Prof.Sudipta Bhadra, and Prof. Santanu Roy, reflect the Institute’s emphasis on nurturing practical and impactful innovations.
Expressing his pride, Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO of the Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, said “I congratulate the students, faculty, and staff on behalf of Kalyan Bharti Trust for making this possible. These achievements underscore the alignment of industry and academia through innovation, a cornerstone of India’s growth journey.” Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Principal of Heritage Institute of Technology, attributed the success “to the collective efforts of the entire Heritage Family and initiatives like HackHeritage, the Institute’s internal hackathon, which provided a strong foundation for the students”.
As stated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri NarendraModi, “Through Smart India Hackathon, the youth power of the country is extracting the Amrit of solutions for developed India”, the achievements of the students of the Heritage Institute of Technology exemplify the potential of innovation to revolutionize the future.
