Hero MotoCorp and the International Road Federation – India Chapter (IRF-IC) have reinforced their commitment to protecting vulnerable road users supported by Hero MotoCorp’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) banner under its Ride Safe India campaign, the initiative blends targeted road engineering, public safety awareness, and active community participation to make school commutes safer for children.
In Delhi, the programme covers four institutions: Govt. Co-Education Senior Secondary School (Sector 22, Dwarka), Prudence School (Sector 22, Dwarka), M. L. Khanna DAV Public School (Sector 6, Dwarka), and Mount Carmel School (Anand Niketan). In Jaipur, four school zones were selected, centered around the main inauguration at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 3 in Jhalana.
To combat speed and visibility hazards, IRF-IC conducted comprehensive site assessments and deployed low-cost, high-impact physical interventions. These included prominent school-zone warning signage, freshly painted road markings, pedestrian visibility enhancements, and physical traffic-calming measures designed to force motorists to lower their speeds near school boundaries.
“Beyond physical infrastructure, the initiative actively involved students to build long-term safety awareness. In Jaipur, children participated in road safety drawing sessions and staged Nukkad Nataks (street plays) to highlight pedestrian safety and responsible road behavior, empowering students to act as safety ambassadors within their families and communities. By bringing together industry, civil society, educational institutions, and civic authorities, Hero MotoCorp and IRF-IC continue to set a precedent for sustainable, child-friendly road infrastructure.” Said Mr K K Kapila, president emeritus, International Road Federation (IRF) .
The inauguration programme in Delhi featured insights from Mr. P. K. Banerjee, Former Executive Director, SIAM and Advisor, IRF-IC; Mr. Nihal Kaul, Plant Head, Hero MotoCorp; Mr. Ravi Kumar Meena, Assistant Engineer, Delhi Development Authority (DDA); and Mr. Murari Meena, Traffic Inspector, Sector 22 and 23, Dwarka, along with the IRF-IC leadership and team.
