GUWAHATI : Assam Police seized heroin worth Rs 7 crore from Karbi Anglong district of the state and arrested two persons including a woman drug smuggler. Acting on intelligence inputs, police personnel have arrested one of the most wanted drug traffickers as a customer. A woman from Dimapur who is running a drug racket and caught another person. Police said that when the police arrived as customers to buy heroin, so much goods found with the drug smugglers were blown away by the police.
Police said 164 packets of high quality heroin weighing 2.12 kg were recovered from the detainees at Janak Pukhuri in Khatkhati police station area of Karbi Anglong district bordering Nagaland. The woman has reportedly been supplying drugs at various places in Assam including Nagaon, Morigaon and Guwahati. Congratulating the police personnel, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Assam Police has busted a large network with narco terror angle at Karbi Anglong. More than 2 kg of heroin worth Rs 7 crore has been seized in the international market.
